What belongs in electricity cost share?
Include electricity used for printing and relevant post-processing if it is part of the baseline operating cost.
Can material and electricity shares total less than 100%?
Yes. The remainder is treated as other operating costs.
What if the shares total more than 100%?
Revise the inputs. Shares above 100% would leave a negative other-cost category and do not represent a usable cost split.

Baseline monthly prints are multiplied by one plus the seasonal volume change divided by 100.
How is the change from baseline calculated?
The calculator subtracts baseline monthly operating cost from estimated seasonal monthly operating cost.
Why are material and electricity treated separately?
Separating them lets price changes affect only the cost categories they are intended to represent.
Why might total cost decrease while cost per print increases?
A volume decline may reduce total spending, while increases in material or electricity prices can keep the reduction smaller than the reduction in completed prints.

Does the calculator include failed prints?
Not separately. Include normal failure, scrap, and reprint costs in your baseline cost or material share if they are expected operating expenses.
Does it account for fixed overhead?
The standard calculation assumes other costs vary with print volume. If a substantial amount is fixed, the estimate may understate costs during lower-volume months.
Can I use the result to set customer prices?
The result can provide an operating-cost reference, but pricing may also involve labor, depreciation, profit targets, taxes, competitive conditions, and other factors.
