3D Printing Shipping Calculator Examples
Worked examples show how packed weight, box size, dimensional weight and fees affect estimated 3D print shipping charges.
These examples illustrate common 3D print shipping situations, including a compact heavy parcel, a lightweight protected print and a larger multi-part order. Amounts use an example currency and are estimates rather than carrier quotes.

How to Read Your Results
Chargeable weight is the figure used to estimate the carrier's variable per-kilogram charge.
If dimensional weight is higher than packed weight, parcel size is the main cost driver.
The weight-based charge excludes the entered base shipping charge and handling fee.
Compare the result with a live carrier quote before buying postage or setting a final customer charge.
Use the dimensions and weight of the sealed parcel, not the unfinished print or an empty box.
Assumptions & Important Notes
- All examples use a divisor of 5,000 cm³ per kg solely as an illustrative input.
- Rates and charges are shown in an unspecified example currency.
- The examples do not apply carrier weight rounding, delivery zones, service levels or surcharge rules.
- Taxes, customs duties and insurance are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a 3D print weighing less than 1 kg be charged as several kilograms?
Yes. A light print in a large box can have a dimensional weight of several kilograms, and the larger of actual and dimensional weight is commonly used for billing.
What shipping dimensions should I use in the examples?
Use the external dimensions of the packed and sealed parcel. Internal box dimensions may understate the volume used by the carrier.
How can I test different packaging options?
Enter the packed weight and outside dimensions for each proposed box. Comparing the resulting chargeable weights shows whether a smaller box could reduce an estimate.
Do these examples include taxes or international duties?
No. They show only the entered per-kilogram rate, base charge and handling fee.
