How it works

The calculator first works out the package volume from its dimensions, then converts that into a volumetric weight using a standard divisor. It compares volumetric weight with the actual package weight and uses the higher value as the chargeable weight. The total shipping cost is then estimated by adding the weight-based charge, the distance-based charge and any fixed insurance or handling fee.
