Your Details

Overview

Use this eBay collectibles profit calculator to estimate whether a flip or sale is worth it after platform fees, shipping and extra selling costs. Enter what you paid, your expected sale price, your fee rate and shipping details to see your estimated profit, margin and ROI.

How it works

The calculator adds your item sale price and buyer-paid shipping to get gross revenue. It then estimates eBay fees as a percentage of that revenue and subtracts fees, purchase cost, shipping cost and other expenses. Profit margin is calculated as net profit divided by gross revenue, and ROI is calculated as net profit divided by purchase price.

How to use this calculator

  1. 1Enter the price you paid for the collectible.
  2. 2Add the amount you expect the item to sell for.
  3. 3Enter your estimated eBay fee rate as a percentage.
  4. 4Include shipping charged to the buyer and your actual shipping cost.
  5. 5Add any packaging, cleaning or other selling expenses.
  6. 6Review your estimated net profit, margin and ROI.

Frequently asked questions

What does this calculator estimate?

It estimates net profit, profit margin, ROI, total costs and eBay fees for a collectible sale based on the numbers you enter.

Should I include shipping charged to the buyer?

Yes. If the buyer pays shipping, include it as revenue and enter your actual shipping expense separately so the estimate reflects the difference.

What fee percentage should I use for eBay?

Use the combined percentage that best matches your expected eBay selling fees for the category and sale type. If you are unsure, check your current seller fee schedule.

Does this calculator include taxes or refund risk?

No. It does not include sales tax, income tax, refunds, returns, chargebacks or promotional discounts unless you add them to other costs.

Why can profit margin and ROI be different?

Profit margin compares profit to total revenue, while ROI compares profit to your original purchase price. They measure different parts of the deal.

Can I use this for cards, coins, comics or memorabilia?

Yes. The calculator works for most collectible categories as long as you enter realistic sale prices, fees and costs.
