eBay Profit Calculator
Estimate your profit, margin and breakeven sale price after eBay fees, payment processing and shipping costs.
Overview
Use this eBay Profit Calculator to estimate how much you may keep from a sale after item cost, shipping, eBay fees and other selling expenses. It can also help you see your margin and work out the item price needed to break even or reach a target profit.
How it works
The calculator adds the item price and shipping charged to find your gross revenue. It then estimates marketplace fees using your percentage fee rate plus any fixed fee, adds your item, shipping and other costs, and subtracts everything from revenue to estimate net profit. Margin is calculated as profit divided by total buyer-paid revenue, and the breakeven or target sale price is found by reversing the same cost and fee logic.
How to use this calculator
- 1Enter the item sale price you plan to charge.
- 2Add your item cost and the shipping amount charged to the buyer.
- 3Enter your actual shipping cost and any other selling costs.
- 4Input your estimated eBay fee percentage and any fixed fee per order.
- 5Review your estimated profit, margin, total fees and breakeven price.

Frequently asked questions
What does this eBay Profit Calculator estimate?
It estimates your profit after subtracting your item cost, shipping cost, eBay fee percentage, fixed fee and any extra selling costs from the buyer-paid amount.
Should I include shipping charged to the buyer?
Yes. If the buyer pays shipping, include that amount because it affects your total revenue and may also affect percentage-based fees.
What should I put in other costs?
You can include promoted listing charges, packaging supplies, returns allowance, insertion fees or any other selling expense not covered elsewhere.
Does this calculator include sales tax?
No. It is designed to work without sales tax. If a tax-related cost affects your result, add it manually to other costs if appropriate for your estimate.
Why is my profit margin based on total revenue?
Margin is shown as profit divided by total buyer-paid revenue, which includes shipping charged to the buyer because that money comes into the transaction.
What is the breakeven item price?
It is the estimated item price you need to charge so that your profit is zero after fees and costs, assuming the same shipping charged and fee settings.
