Sales Funnel Customer Acquisition Cost Calculator

Estimate your customer acquisition cost across a sales funnel using ad spend, sales costs, leads and new customers.

Your Details

Overview

Use this sales funnel customer acquisition cost calculator to estimate how much you spend to win each new customer. Enter your advertising spend, sales costs, leads, qualified leads and new customers to see CAC, cost per lead and key conversion rates across the funnel.

How it works

The calculator adds your advertising spend and sales costs to find total acquisition cost. It then divides that total by leads to calculate cost per lead and by new customers to calculate customer acquisition cost. Conversion rates are worked out by comparing qualified leads and customers against the number of leads that entered the funnel.

How to use this calculator

  1. 1Enter your advertising spend for the period.
  2. 2Add any sales-related acquisition costs.
  3. 3Input the total number of leads generated.
  4. 4Enter how many of those leads became qualified leads.
  5. 5Enter the number of new customers acquired and review your CAC and conversion rates.

Frequently asked questions

What does this calculator estimate?

It estimates your customer acquisition cost, total acquisition spend, cost per lead and key conversion rates through the funnel.

What costs should I include in customer acquisition cost?

Include direct marketing and sales costs used to acquire customers during the same period, such as ad spend, agency fees, sales tools or outreach costs.

Why is my CAC high even if I have many leads?

A high CAC can happen when total spend is high, conversion from leads to customers is low, or many leads are low quality.

What is a good lead-to-customer conversion rate?

It varies widely by industry, offer, traffic source and sales process, so it is most useful to compare your own results over time.

Should I calculate CAC monthly or quarterly?

You can use any period, but all costs and funnel numbers should cover the same period for a meaningful result.
