Social Media Giveaway ROI Calculator
Estimate whether a social media giveaway generated a positive return based on campaign cost, leads, conversions and average customer value.
Overview
A social media giveaway can create attention, grow your audience and generate leads, but it still needs to produce value. This calculator estimates the return from a giveaway using your total campaign cost, number of entries, lead capture rate, conversion rate, average customer value and gross margin.
How it works
The calculator starts with the total number of entries and applies your lead capture rate to estimate how many usable leads the giveaway produced. It then applies your lead-to-customer conversion rate to estimate how many customers those leads generated. Revenue is calculated by multiplying converted customers by average customer value. Gross profit is estimated using your gross margin, and net profit is found by subtracting the total giveaway cost. ROI is then calculated as net profit divided by giveaway cost, expressed as a percentage.
How to use this calculator
- 1Enter the total cost of running the giveaway.
- 2Add the number of valid entries received.
- 3Enter the percentage of entrants who became usable leads.
- 4Enter the percentage of those leads who became customers.
- 5Add your average customer value and gross margin.
- 6Review the estimated revenue, profit, lead volume and ROI.

With a $500 giveaway cost, 2,000 entries, a 25% lead capture rate and a 5% lead-to-customer conversion rate, the campaign would estimate 500 leads, 25 customers, $3,000 in revenue, $1,800 in gross profit, $1,300 in net profit and a 260.0% ROI.
Frequently asked questions
What does this giveaway ROI calculator estimate?
It estimates leads, customers, revenue, net profit and ROI from a social media giveaway based on the values you enter.
What should I include in total giveaway cost?
Include prize cost, shipping, paid promotion, creator or influencer fees, design costs and any other direct campaign expenses.
What is lead capture rate?
Lead capture rate is the percentage of entrants who turned into usable leads, such as subscribers or qualified contacts you can market to later.
What is the difference between revenue and net profit here?
Revenue is the sales value generated by converted customers. Net profit uses your gross margin estimate and then subtracts giveaway cost.
Can I use customer lifetime value instead of average order value?
Yes, if you want a broader estimate of long-term value. Just make sure the figure reflects the same gross margin assumption you use.
Why might actual ROI differ from the estimate?
Actual results can change due to delayed purchases, repeat orders, refunds, low-quality entries, attribution issues and costs not included in the campaign total.
