Why does the calculator use the loss rate before calculating revenue?

Revenue is based on the estimated mass that remains saleable after losses, rather than the total material initially loaded.

What does declared nitrogen content represent?

It is the nitrogen percentage by weight entered for the saleable product. The calculator uses it to estimate kilograms of declared nitrogen in saleable output.

Which costs belong in other batch costs?

Examples include direct labour, energy, packaging, consumables, quality checks and testing that are attributable to the batch.

Can feedstock cost be zero?

Yes, if there is no separately assigned feedstock cost for the estimate. However, excluding a real cost will make the gross profit estimate less complete.

How to interpret output, revenue, gross profit and gross margin.

What is the difference between saleable output and feedstock loaded?

Feedstock loaded is the material put into the process. Saleable output is the estimated remaining mass after the entered loss rate is deducted.

Is estimated gross profit the same as net profit?

No. Gross profit subtracts only the direct costs entered. Net profit would also account for overheads, taxes, financing and other business expenses.

What does a negative gross profit mean?

It means expected revenue is lower than the entered direct production cost for that batch. It does not include unentered costs or potential changes in actual sales.

Why might actual revenue differ from the calculation?

Actual revenue can change with sales volume, realised price, discounts, unsold stock, returns, product quality, contractual terms and other commercial factors.

Can I compare batches with different sizes?

Yes. Compare saleable output, gross profit and gross margin together. Gross margin can help compare profitability as a share of revenue across different batch sizes.

Accuracy, product and compliance considerations

Does the calculator confirm fertiliser nutrient analysis?

No. It uses the declared nitrogen percentage entered and does not perform a laboratory analysis or validate product composition.

Does it calculate phosphorus, potassium or full NPK analysis?

No. The calculator estimates nitrogen mass only. Other nutrients are outside its formula.

Does the calculator check product labelling or sale requirements?

No. Product classification, labelling, quality controls and applicable requirements should be assessed separately for the relevant market.
