How it works
The calculator first finds total scheduled hours by multiplying employees, working days, and hours per day. It converts absence days into absence hours and divides those hours by scheduled hours to calculate the absence rate. It then reduces absence hours by the percentage of work you expect was recovered or redistributed. The remaining hours are multiplied by your chosen hourly output value to estimate potential output loss. This is a planning estimate rather than a measure of every operational consequence of absence.

Frequently asked questions
How is the absence rate calculated?
The absence rate is total absence hours divided by total scheduled hours, multiplied by 100. Converting both figures to hours makes the calculation consistent where daily schedules are the same.
What counts as an absence day?
Use the total days absent that you want to track, such as sickness, unplanned leave, or other categories. Keep the categories consistent when comparing different periods.
Why does the calculator ask about recovered work?
Some work may be covered by colleagues, completed later, or redistributed. This input estimates how much of the absence time did not result in a lasting productivity loss.
What should I use for output value per hour?
Use an internal estimate that suits your purpose, such as contribution per productive hour, revenue per hour, or another consistently measured output value. It is not necessarily the employee's hourly pay.
