How it works

The calculator first adjusts the distance if you include a return trip. It then divides the total distance by your fuel economy to estimate how many gallons of diesel you will use. That fuel amount is multiplied by the diesel price to estimate total fuel cost. If you enter more than one passenger, the calculator also shows an even split of the fuel cost per person.
