Your Details

Overview

Use this Etsy Self Assessment Tax Calculator to estimate how much tax you may need to set aside from your Etsy income. Enter your annual sales, allowable expenses, personal allowance and simple tax settings to get an estimate of profit, tax and take-home income.

How it works

The calculator first works out your net profit by subtracting allowable expenses from annual sales. It then subtracts your personal allowance to estimate taxable profit and applies the income tax rate you entered. For National Insurance, it adds a yearly Class 2 amount and applies the Class 4 rate to profit above the lower profits limit. These amounts are combined to estimate your total tax bill, and the remaining amount is shown as your take-home profit.

How to use this calculator

  1. 1Enter your total Etsy sales for the tax year.
  2. 2Add your allowable business expenses.
  3. 3Check or adjust your personal allowance.
  4. 4Enter the income tax rate you want to apply to taxable profit.
  5. 5Add the Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance settings for your estimate.
  6. 6Review your estimated tax bill and take-home profit.

Frequently asked questions

What does this Etsy Self Assessment Tax Calculator estimate?

It estimates your net profit, income tax, National Insurance and take-home profit based on the figures you enter.

Does this calculator use full UK tax bands?

No. This version uses a simplified single income tax rate and simplified National Insurance inputs, so it is designed for quick estimating rather than full tax filing.

What expenses can I include?

You can include allowable business expenses such as Etsy fees, packaging, postage, materials, software and other costs wholly and exclusively for your business.

Should I include my Etsy sales before fees?

Yes. Enter your total sales revenue first, then add Etsy fees and other allowable costs under expenses.

Does the result include payments on account or student loan repayments?

No. The estimate does not include payments on account, student loan repayments, pension adjustments, benefits or other personal tax factors.

Can I use this if I have other income as well?

You can use it for a rough estimate, but other income may affect your personal allowance, tax band and actual self assessment bill.
