Is the result a production guarantee?
No. It is an estimate based on the inputs and does not guarantee output or delivery performance.

What should be included in setup and changeover time?
Include recurring printer-side work such as loading, unloading, cleaning, and material or build changeover when it happens for each build.
What does parts per build mean?
It is the average number of usable finished parts produced from one completed build, not necessarily the maximum number that can physically fit.
Why does the calculator round printer count up?
A partial printer cannot provide a complete production resource, so fleet requirements are rounded to the next whole printer.
Why does current capacity round down?
The capacity calculation counts completed builds only. A remaining fraction of a build cycle is not treated as finished output.
Utilization and accuracy

What utilization rate should I enter?
Use a rate that reflects observed or planned productive availability after maintenance, interruptions, print failures, operator delays, and scheduling gaps.
What does fleet utilization above 100% mean?
It means the required workload is greater than the current fleet's target-adjusted available hours.
Will increasing utilization always solve a capacity shortfall?
Not necessarily. Higher utilization may reduce scheduling room and may not address labor, materials, quality, or downstream bottlenecks.
How should I handle a mixed printer fleet?
Calculate similar printer groups separately where possible, since different machines may have different yields, cycle times, and available hours.

Yes. Use a consistent time period by entering demand, production days, and expected operating hours for the period being planned.
How is the number of 3D printers required calculated?
