What should average print time include?

Use the average machine printing time for one part. Keep unloading, cleaning, setup and restarting the next job in changeover time.

What counts as changeover time?

It can include part removal, bed or build preparation, cleaning, loading material and starting the next print when those tasks delay the printer.

How are parts per printer per day calculated?

Operating hours per day are divided by total cycle time per part, where cycle time equals print time plus changeover time.

Can peak and off-peak schedules use different daily operating hours?

This calculator uses one operating-hours-per-day input for both seasons. If daily hours differ greatly by season, run separate estimates for each schedule.

How is the peak-season share calculated?

It is peak-season usable output divided by total annual usable output, expressed as a percentage.

Does the calculator include maintenance downtime?

Not directly. Reduce planned operating hours or operating days to reserve time for maintenance, calibration and expected downtime.

Does it account for material shortages?

No. The estimate assumes material is available when needed and does not model purchasing or inventory constraints.

Should I use the same reject rate all year?

Use one rate only if it reasonably reflects both periods. If failure rates differ by product mix or season, calculate the periods separately.

Does the estimate include post-processing capacity?

No. It measures printer-side capacity. Finishing, inspection, assembly and packing may impose a separate limit.

Are results guaranteed production targets?

No. They are planning estimates based on averages and the operating schedule provided.

What if calculated capacity is below demand?

The gap identifies capacity that may need to be addressed through scheduling, cycle-time improvements, added equipment or other operational changes.

Should different part types be combined in one calculation?

Use a weighted average cycle time and reject rate only when the part mix is stable. Otherwise, calculate major part groups separately and add the results.

Why does a lower reject rate increase output?

The calculator applies the reject percentage to theoretical production. Fewer rejected parts leave more completed parts available for use.

Can I use the calculator for a single season only?

Yes. Set the other season's months or operating days to zero and interpret the result as the selected period's estimate.
