Where should I enter a brim or raft?

Include purge towers, nozzle priming, color-change purge and similar extrusion that is not part of the finished model.

How should I estimate setup and post-processing time?

Use the hands-on preparation and finishing time you want allocated to one completed model, such as bed preparation, filament changes and support removal.

How should I choose a print failure rate?

Use results from comparable prints with similar geometry, material, settings and printer condition. Testing several rates can show how sensitive the estimate is.

Why does the calculator increase material for failures?

A completed model may require more than one attempt. The calculation spreads the expected cost of unsuccessful attempts across each completed result.

Does the calculator assume every failed print uses all the filament?

Yes, it uses a full-average-attempt assumption for a simple estimate. If failures usually happen early, the actual extra use may be lower.

What happens at a 20% failure rate?

The expected success rate is 80%, so one attempt's material and print time are divided by 0.80 to estimate resources per completed model.

Are the results exact predictions?

No. They are planning estimates based on entered values and simplified failure assumptions.

Does the calculator include electricity or printer wear?

No. It measures material and time only; electricity, labor cost, maintenance and depreciation are outside the calculation.

Can I compare two slicer profiles with this calculator?

Yes. Enter each profile's model, support, purge, print-time and expected failure figures, then compare the estimated results.

Can I use the result for a batch of identical parts?
