How it works
The calculator starts with the material required for one print attempt: model material plus supports and purge material. It then increases this amount based on the expected failure rate to estimate the material needed per completed model. Material efficiency is the finished model's material divided by expected total material use. It applies the same failure adjustment to machine print time, then adds setup and post-processing time to estimate total job time.

Material efficiency is the percentage of total expected material use that remains in the finished model. Supports, purge material, brims, rafts and failed prints reduce this percentage.
Should I include supports and brims in the material estimate?
Yes. Enter their estimated material weight as support material because they are consumed during printing but are not part of the final model.
How should I choose a print failure rate?
Use your experience with similar prints, materials and printer settings. If you are unsure, try a low, medium and high failure rate to see how sensitive the estimate is.
Does the calculator include electricity costs?
No. It focuses on material and time efficiency. Electricity, labor cost, wear, maintenance and machine depreciation are excluded.
