How it works

The calculator treats the print as a rectangular outer volume. It subtracts an estimated inner cavity to find the shell volume, then fills a percentage of that cavity according to the infill setting. That material volume is multiplied by filament density to estimate grams. A support allowance is added, followed by the optional seasonal adjustment. Complex shapes are usually less rectangular than this simplified model, so a slicer's own estimate is generally more precise.

How accurate is this 3D print weight calculator?

PLA is often around 1.24 g/cm³, but the manufacturer's specification for your particular filament is the best value to use.

Why does wall thickness affect print weight?

Thicker walls use more solid material around the model's outer surfaces, increasing weight even when the infill percentage stays the same.

Should I include supports in the calculation?

Yes, if your model needs supports, brims, a raft, or substantial purge material. Enter a percentage allowance based on your slicer preview or previous prints.
