Marketplace Fee Calculator

Estimate marketplace fees, net payout, and profit based on your sale price, shipping charged, product cost, and fee rates.

Your Details

Overview

A marketplace fee calculator helps sellers estimate total fees, net payout, and profit before listing or repricing a product. Enter your sale price, shipping charged to the buyer, product cost, percentage fees, and any fixed fee to see how much you may keep from each sale.

How it works

The calculator first adds the sale price and shipping charged to find the gross order value. It then applies the marketplace fee rate and payment processing rate to that amount, adds any fixed fee, and subtracts the total fees from the order value to estimate net payout. Finally, it subtracts your product cost to estimate profit and expresses that profit as a percentage of the order value.

How to use this calculator

  1. 1Enter the item sale price.
  2. 2Add the shipping amount charged to the buyer.
  3. 3Enter your product cost.
  4. 4Input the marketplace fee percentage.
  5. 5Add the payment processing percentage and any fixed fee.
  6. 6Review the estimated fees, net payout, profit, and margin.

Frequently asked questions

What does this marketplace fee calculator estimate?

It estimates total selling fees, your net payout after fees, and your profit based on the values you enter.

Should I include shipping charged to the buyer?

Yes. Many marketplaces charge fees on the full amount paid by the buyer, including shipping, so this calculator includes it in the order value.

Does this calculator include my product cost?

Yes. Your entered product cost is subtracted after fees to estimate profit.

Can I use this for any online marketplace?

Yes, as long as you know the marketplace percentage fee, payment processing fee, and any fixed fee per order.

Why might my actual payout be different?

Actual payouts can differ because of taxes, refunds, promotions, category-specific fees, shipping-label charges, reserves, or fee minimums and caps.

What is the difference between net payout and profit?

Net payout is what remains after marketplace fees. Profit goes one step further by also subtracting your product cost.

  • Results are estimates and may differ from actual marketplace charges due to category rules, discounts, refunds, or fee caps.
  • Shipping charged to the buyer is included in the fee calculation because many marketplaces charge fees on that amount.

Warnings

  • Actual marketplace fees may vary by category, region, promotions, taxes, and payment method. Overheads and shipping-label costs are not included unless added to your product cost.
