Spool weight converts the target inventory weight into the number of physical spools that need storage.

What should I enter for spools per bin?

Use the number of spools that fit safely and practically in a bin, including allowance for packaging and easy handling.

What is bin footprint?

It is the shelf or floor area occupied by one bin, measured in square metres.

Why are bins required rounded up?

A fraction of a bin cannot store the remaining spools, so the calculator includes one additional complete bin when needed.

What does estimated stored volume mean?

It is the combined internal volume of the required bins in cubic metres. It is not a measurement of the filament material itself.

Does the floor-area result include vertical shelving?

Yes. Net bin area is divided by the number of usable shelf levels before utilization and access allowances are applied.

Does aisle allowance include the whole warehouse aisle system?

It adds a percentage to the calculated storage footprint for local access and handling. Wider warehouse circulation should be considered separately.

How does shelf utilization affect the result?

Lower utilization increases the estimated footprint because more shelf area is needed to avoid fully packed, impractical storage.

How accurate is the storage estimate?

It is an estimate based on the inputs provided. Accuracy depends on actual spool dimensions, packaging, bin layout and operating practices.

Does the calculator check shelving load capacity?

No. Rack loading, floor loading and installation requirements must be assessed separately.

Does it account for moisture-sensitive filament storage?

Not directly. Dry cabinets, sealed containers, desiccant equipment and clearance needs can increase the space required.

Can I use it for resin or powder materials?

Only as a rough container-capacity estimate. Those materials can have different containment, ventilation and safety requirements.

Should I add extra capacity beyond the result?

Operations may choose to include a planning buffer for changing demand, new materials, incoming deliveries or space for stock rotation.
